Resveratrol in peanuts is known for its role in prevention of cancer, aging, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, & now chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Latest research shows that Resveratrol’s anti-inflammatory & antioxidative properties may prevent the progression of CKD.

Resveratrol is rare in the sense that it is only found in a few foods, including peanuts, mulberries, grape skins & wine. Eating a handful of peanuts once a day provides more resveratrol than a glass of red wine.

The question however is that Will peanut increase creatinine level in CKD patients?

It is ok to consume peanut with Chronic Kidney Disease, but the point to note here is CKD patients need to limit the intake of peanut due to their impairment of kidney function. While Peanuts are loaded with health-benefits as they contain protein, vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin E, vitamin K, calcium, phosphorus & iron which are essential for CKD patients, but because of decreased kidney function, CKD patients MUST limit protein intake. Peanuts are rich in protein, so eating too much peanut is harmful for kidney.

Why Patients with high Creatinine Should LIMIT their consumption of PEANUTS

Creatinine is a harmful substance that needs to be expelled out of the body through kidney, so when kidney function is decreased, creatinine level will increase. Consuming too much peanut will increase the burden on the kidney & thus worsen kidney health. Therefore, often in such cases, eating too much peanut will indirectly be the cause for elevation of creatinine level. This is the main reason why patients diagnosed with elevated creatinine levels need to limit peanut intake.
